Community Guidelines
Gloseg B2B Limited Effective Date: August 16, 2026 Version: 2.2
Definitions
- "Community" means the Gloseg forum, academy discussions, webinar comment areas, and any related reputation, bookmarking or reaction features.
- "Thread" means an original post opening a discussion topic.
- "Reply" means a response posted within a thread.
- "Display Mode" means the identity presentation a Member selects for their Community activity: real initial, real full, company, or masked.
- "Reputation" means the score, XP, badges and levels attributed to a Member's Community activity.
- "Staff Badge" means the gloseg_team or moderator badge, derived automatically from an account's role.
- "Expert Contributor" means a Member granted verified expert status by Gloseg based on demonstrated trade expertise.
- "Counterparty" means another User with whom a Member has an active or past trade relationship.
1. Purpose and scope
1.1 Why the Community exists
The Gloseg Community exists to help African sellers and global buyers exchange trade knowledge: sourcing questions, logistics experience, compliance discussion, market observations, and peer support. It includes forum threads, replies, likes, bookmarks, reputation, and academy and webinar discussion areas.
1.2 Who it is for
1.2.1 Eligible participants
- Any registered Organization Member may participate. Participation privileges follow the Member's role and account standing.
1.3 Relationship to other policies
1.3.1 Layered application
- These Guidelines apply in addition to the Acceptable Use Policy. Where the Acceptable Use Policy prohibits conduct platform-wide, these Guidelines add Community-specific rules.
2. Identity and display modes
2.1 Available display modes
2.1.1 The four modes
- Real initial: first name and last initial (for example, "Ama K.").
- Real full: full real name.
- Company: the Organization's registered name in place of an individual name.
- Masked: a pseudonymous handle not derived from real identity.
2.2 Honesty rules per mode
| Display mode | What may be shown | Honesty rule |
|---|---|---|
| Real initial | First name and last initial | Must reflect the Member's actual name |
| Real full | Full real name | Must reflect the Member's actual legal or trading name |
| Company | Organization name | Must be the Organization's verified name on Gloseg |
| Masked | Pseudonymous handle | Must not impersonate a real person, organization, or Gloseg staff |
2.3 Consistency requirement
2.3.1 No mode-switching to evade accountability
- A Member may change display mode, but past posts remain attributed to the same underlying account for moderation purposes. Switching modes does not erase moderation history or reputation tied to the account.
3. Staff and moderator badges
3.1 Role-derived only
3.1.1 No manual award or purchase
- Gloseg_team and moderator badges are automatically derived from account role and cannot be manually awarded, gifted, purchased, or self-applied. Any Member claiming staff or moderator status without holding that badge is impersonating staff, a serious violation.
4. Posting standards
4.1 Threads and replies
4.1.1 General standard
- Posts must be relevant to trade, sourcing, logistics, compliance, market conditions, or platform use. Off-topic, low-effort, or purely promotional threads outside permitted commercial areas are discouraged and may be removed.
4.2 Academy discussions
4.2.1 Learning environment standard
- Academy and webinar discussion areas are for questions and discussion connected to the course or session content. Unrelated solicitation in these areas is not permitted.
5. Commercial promotion boundaries
5.1 Where selling is allowed
5.1.1 Marketplace is the selling venue
- Direct selling, price quoting to unknown buyers, and solicitation of orders belongs on marketplace listings and RFQ/quote flows, not the Community.
5.2 Where selling is not allowed
5.2.1 Community restrictions
- Repeated posting of listing links without substantive discussion content, unsolicited direct-message selling triggered from a forum post, and disguised advertising presented as neutral advice are not permitted.
5.3 Permitted mentions
5.3.1 Contextual reference
- A Member may mention their own products or services where directly relevant to answering a genuine question, provided the primary content of the post is informative rather than promotional.
6. Quality expectations and duplicate content
6.1 Avoiding duplication
6.1.1 Search before posting
- Members should search existing threads before posting a new one on the same topic. Moderators may merge or close duplicate threads.
6.2 Substantive contribution
6.2.1 Minimum quality
- Replies should add relevant information, experience, or a genuine question. Repeated low-value replies posted to accumulate reputation are discouraged and may be moderated under Section 10.
7. Market and price claims requiring sources
7.1 Sourcing obligation
7.1.1 Evidence for claims
- Statements about market prices, demand trends, or regulatory changes should reference a source (a document, a named report, a dated observation, or personal transaction experience clearly identified as such). Unsourced claims presented as fact may be labelled or removed if they risk misleading other Members.
7.2 Distinguishing opinion from fact
7.2.1 Clear framing
- Members should clearly frame personal opinions or predictions as such, rather than presenting them as verified market fact.
8. Confidentiality of counterparties
8.1 No posting of private negotiation details
8.1.1 Prohibition
- Members must not post private message content, negotiated prices, RFQ terms, contracts, invoices, or other documents belonging to a Counterparty without that Counterparty's explicit consent.
8.2 Anonymised discussion
8.2.1 Permitted approach
- General, anonymised discussion of an experience (for example, describing a type of logistics delay without naming the counterparty or disclosing confidential terms) is permitted.
9. Defamation and unverified allegations
9.1 Naming businesses in complaints
9.1.1 Restraint required
- Members must not post unverified accusations of fraud, non-payment, or misconduct naming a specific business or individual. Such posts risk defamation liability for the poster and reputational harm based on unverified claims.
9.2 Proper channel for complaints
9.2.1 Use dispute and reporting tools
- Genuine grievances about a counterparty should be raised through the order dispute process, live chat support, or a report to legal@gloseg.com, not through a public named thread.
10. Dispute discussion rules while a formal dispute is open
10.1 Restriction during active disputes
10.1.1 No public litigation of live disputes
- While a formal order or platform dispute is open between two Users, public forum posts naming the counterparty or describing the specific dispute are not permitted until the dispute is resolved, to protect a fair resolution process.
11. Reputation and XP integrity
11.1 Genuine engagement only
11.1.1 Anti-gaming rules
- Reputation and XP must be earned through genuine posting, replying, and community engagement. Vote rings, reciprocal like arrangements, multiple-account farming, or automated liking/bookmarking to inflate reputation are prohibited.
11.2 Consequences of manipulation
11.2.1 Reputation correction
- Gloseg may reverse artificially gained reputation and apply enforcement under Section 13 where manipulation is found.
12. Moderation roles and decision-making
12.1 Who moderates
12.1.1 Roles
- Moderator-badged accounts and gloseg_team accounts review reports, apply labels, and take enforcement action. Moderators act under Gloseg's internal moderation guidance and escalate ambiguous or severe cases to Gloseg staff.
12.2 Basis for decisions
12.2.1 Consistency
- Decisions are based on these Guidelines, the Acceptable Use Policy, and the specific facts reported, applied as consistently as reasonably possible across similar cases.
13. Enforcement ladder
13.1 Graduated response
| Stage | Description | Typical trigger |
|---|---|---|
| Advisory | Comment or private note to the Member, content may remain | Minor or first-time quality or tone issue |
| Content removal | Thread or reply removed or hidden | Clear breach of posting standards or confidentiality rules |
| Feature restriction | Loss of posting, replying, or reputation-earning privileges for a period | Repeated breach or promotional abuse |
| Suspension | Community access suspended, marketplace account unaffected unless linked conduct applies | Serious or repeated breach, defamation, harassment |
| Permanent closure | Community access permanently revoked | Severe or repeated severe breach, impersonation of staff, doxxing |
14. Reporting and escalation
14.1 How to report
14.1.1 Channels
- Use the in-thread report function or email legal@gloseg.com with the thread or reply link and a description of the issue.
14.2 Escalation
14.2.1 When to escalate
- Reports involving legal risk (defamation, threats, sanctioned-party discussion) are escalated to Gloseg staff and, where relevant, to legal@gloseg.com.
15. Appeals
15.1 Appeal process
15.1.1 Submission and timeline
| Step | Indicative timeline |
|---|---|
| Submit appeal to legal@gloseg.com | Within 14 calendar days of action |
| Acknowledgement | 3 business days |
| Review outcome | 10 business days |
15.2 Outcome
15.2.1 Result
- Content may be restored, the enforcement stage may be reduced, or the original decision may be confirmed.
16. Expert contributors and verified expert status
16.1 How status is granted
16.1.1 Verification, not purchase
- Expert Contributor status is granted by Gloseg based on demonstrated trade expertise and consistent quality contribution. It cannot be purchased and is not guaranteed by tenure or post volume alone.
16.2 Expectations of Expert Contributors
16.2.1 Higher standard
- Expert Contributors are expected to source claims carefully and disclose any commercial interest in a topic they discuss.
17. Translation and multilingual posting
17.1 Language use
17.1.1 Permitted languages
- Members may post in any language relevant to their trade community. Automated translation tools available on the Platform assist readability but are advisory; original text remains the authoritative version, consistent with the AI & Trade Intelligence Notice.
18. Retention and removal of content
18.1 Retention
18.1.1 Standard retention
- Community content is retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period after removal or closure for moderation records and legal purposes.
18.2 Removal requests
18.2.1 Member-initiated removal
- Members may request removal of their own posts through legal@gloseg.com, subject to legitimate retention needs such as active disputes or investigations.
19. Amendments and notice
19.1 Updating these Guidelines
19.1.1 Notice
- Gloseg may update these Guidelines to reflect new Community features or moderation experience. Material changes are notified through the Platform or by email at least 14 days before taking effect.
20. Governing law and jurisdiction
20.1 Governing law
20.1.1 Ghana law
- These Guidelines are governed by the laws of Ghana, without prejudice to mandatory rights under Nigerian, United Kingdom, or the Member's home jurisdiction law.
20.2 Jurisdiction
20.2.1 Courts
- Subject to mandatory jurisdictional rules, the courts of Ghana have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Guidelines.
